Welcome back! We're starting the 2016 Spring semester with exciting news: You now have two new databases available for you to use for your course assignments -- Films on Demand and Oxford Art Online.

 From your AccessRio account, click on the Library tab and look in the center column under Library Online Databases.

 

1. With Films on Demand, you can choose from thousands of films, from Anthropology to Health & Medicine, from Physical Sciences to World Languages. By creating a MyFilms account you can create film clips for your English, Speech, Sociology, or any other course presentation and save the clips in folders that you set up. You can also create Playlists of selected video and audio content to share with others. Available films and clips range from a couple of minutes to two hours long.

The Films on Demand database contains acclaimed documentaries, prize-winning educational films, and helpful instructional videos. Its films come from productions of more than 40 multi-awarded institutions, including PBS, CNBC, TED, BBC, MacNeil/Lehrer, Ken Burns, California Newsreels, National Geographic, Nova, and others.

 

 

2.  Not just for Art majors, the Oxford Art Online database from the Oxford University Press contains access to online encyclopedias such as The Oxford Companion to Western Art and the Grove Encyclopedia of Classical Art and Architecture. Oxford Art Online complements our existing ArtStor database by providing links to images from the British Museum, the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and numerous international art galleries and artists.
