Updated MLA Formats Coming Soon

Just when you thought you'd mastered the MLA style for citing sources, a new edition is coming out soon!

The eighth edition of the MLA Handbook will be released this spring and will recommend  one set of citation guidelines that will apply to whatever source you're using - books (in paper format), e-books, audiobooks, articles, various types of Web sources, and so on. The Modern Language Association promises that this redesigned edition will be shorter and much simpler to use.

Because  we are into the fifth week of the spring semester, instructors who are using the seventh edition (2009) might choose to continue using that older edition until the fall semester.

Copies of the new edition will be ordered for the library bookshelves. The library will also be revising its MLA handouts as soon as the new handbook is released. The updated handout should be ready for distribution at the start of the fall semester in late August.  Watch for it!
